How to connect Google Search Console to BeKnow

Inspect sources and measurements associated with an intervention. The supported automatic review path currently uses WordPress and Search Console.

Before starting, confirm that the workspace has the correct domain and that your Google account can access the matching Search Console property.

1. Check the property in Search Console

Open Search Console with the account you intend to authorise and confirm that the property appears in the selector. Google distinguishes between:

• Domain properties, covering protocols and subdomains of a DNS-verified domain;
• URL-prefix properties, covering only the specified protocol and prefix.

If the workspace uses https://www.example.com but you choose a property limited to http://example.com, its data may not describe the current site. Compare covered URL examples when several similar properties exist.

Google also assigns owner, full-user and restricted-user roles. If the property is missing, ask an owner for the appropriate access. Never share a Google password.

3. Match property and workspace

Check three things:

1. the workspace domain belongs within the property;
2. important known URLs fall under its scope;
3. language folders or subdomains are not excluded by an overly narrow prefix.

A Domain property is often convenient for a complete view. A URL-prefix property may suit work isolated to one section. The correct choice is the one whose scope matches the analysis.

4. Validate the first import

Look for plausible date ranges and rows. The main metrics are:

• clicks, visits from eligible results;
• impressions, appearances counted under Google's rules;
• CTR, clicks divided by impressions;
• position, an average rather than one fixed observed rank;
• query and page, dimensions used to segment performance.

Google states that the Search Analytics API returns top rows and does not guarantee every possible row. Rare queries may be withheld for privacy. Recent data normally arrives after a delay, so one empty day does not prove a traffic collapse.

5. Interpret differences correctly

Search Console totals can differ from Google Analytics or a rank tracker because the tools observe different events, aggregations and time zones.

6. Troubleshoot common problems

If the property does not appear, verify the Google account and its access. If it appears but seems empty, check protocol, subdomain, prefix and dates. A new site or newly added property may need time before data becomes visible.

Search Console does not read page copy

The connection supplies search performance, not complete page contents. A sitemap lists addresses; Firecrawl can retrieve page copy for an audit. OpenRouter serves model-dependent workflows. Keeping these sources distinct prevents unsupported conclusions.

Must I own the property?

You need a role that allows the required reading. Only owners can administer other users.

No. Importing data does not alter pages, indexing or rankings.

Why are some queries missing?

Google withholds some queries for privacy and limits returned rows. The data is not a complete log of every search.

Begin with the right property

A useful connection is not proven by a “connected” badge. Domain, property scope and returned data must describe the same site before they support diagnosis or editorial planning.
