AI Providers & BYOK

    What is Firecrawl and when does BeKnow need it?

    Provider concepts remain useful, but earlier instructions for BeKnow’s SEO, writing, image or AI-visibility screens no longer describe the current public product. Saving a provider key does not enable those retired workflows.

    It is not an AI model, a keyword-volume provider or a replacement for Google Search Console. Its role is web content acquisition. Under BYOK, you connect a Firecrawl key from your account and the provider governs any usage.

    A sitemap lists pages; Firecrawl reads them

    A sitemap may reveal /services/seo-consulting, but it does not describe the current headings, claims, entities or evidence. Search Console may show clicks and impressions for that URL, but it does not supply the page copy.

    Firecrawl fills that gap. Scrape retrieves a single page, Crawl can traverse a site and Map helps discover URLs. It can handle JavaScript-rendered pages and separate main content from repeated navigation or footer elements.

    Site inventories

    A URL list becomes more useful when it includes titles, descriptions, headings and page text. That enriched inventory can reveal duplicate coverage and pages competing for the same intent. A full crawl should still be scoped by site size and cost.

    AI-cited source verification

    An AI answer may cite a competitor page. The citation identifies a URL, but not necessarily why it was selected. Firecrawl can retrieve the page so you can inspect its definitions, evidence and structure. This extends AI visibility monitoring without pretending that correlation proves the cause of a citation.

    What Firecrawl does not do

    Firecrawl does not report keyword demand. External SEO datasets may require DataForSEO. It does not run the monitored model prompts itself; that requires an AI provider such as OpenRouter. It does not replace Search Console's first-party Google performance data.

    Cost and responsible use

    Firecrawl has its own plans, credits, rate limits and terms, all subject to change. Usage depends on the operation and volume. Retrieving one selected page differs from traversing thousands of URLs or running advanced browser work.

    Before a large crawl:

    1. define the decision the data must support;
    2. test a few representative URLs;
    3. exclude irrelevant and duplicate sections;
    4. inspect output and provider usage;
    5. expand only when the sample is useful.

    Also respect site terms, robots instructions, content rights and personal-data obligations. Technical access does not remove legal or contractual responsibilities.

    Frequently asked questions

    No. Only workflows that retrieve web content depend on it. Other workspace areas remain separate.

    Can it read an entire website?

    Firecrawl supports crawling, but scope, exclusions and consumption should be decided before starting.

    Does Firecrawl automatically update brand memory?

    Retrieval can provide a source. Adding, reviewing and approving knowledge are distinct workspace actions.

    No. Requests use the connected account and follow Firecrawl's current terms.

    Turn a URL into inspectable evidence

    Firecrawl matters when a decision depends on the actual contents of a page. Used on a focused sample, it turns an address into a readable source that can be connected to the rest of the analysis.

    What BeKnow keeps

    Keep interventions, hypotheses, assets, observations and decisions in a searchable workspace. Record what is known and what still needs checking.

    A change in performance after an intervention does not prove that the intervention caused it. Cross-platform attribution and a complete analytics dashboard are not available today.

    Project memory and data imports do not require an AI model key. A compatible external AI client may have its own costs. BYOK applies only to available functions that actually call an external provider.
